Classical Department

Steph Hsu, Music Director

The WSRN classical department is BACK WITH A VENGEANCE, with SEVEN wholly and mind-blowingly fantastic shows for dedicated listeners and adventurous newbies alike. This semester, the classical shows are interspersed throughout the week, except for on Wednesday, when you have a 31% chance of tuning into a classical show, which is a beautiful, beautiful thing for this little ole department.

The classical department is devoted to providing listeners with adventurous, eclectic classical music broadcasts. And by this, we don't just mean your typical Beethoven and Mozart, which you will of course hear, but also the rest of those crazy old guys whose names you may never have heard before, or have simply heard in passing, but whose music has the power to move you, to make you cry, to frighten you to the point that you pee in your pants. You never know what will speak to you if you don't tune in.

We'll play everything from Bach, Vivaldi, Corelli, Beethoven, and Mozart to Brahms, Schumann, Dvorak, Mahler, Wagner, Strauss, Grieg, Debussy...you might even catch a little Schoenberg or John Williams if you're lucky. We've also got more juicy gossip on the sex lives of the greatest of the great composers than you probably care to know. Tune in, my friends.
